Dear Mr. Crisp
Thank you for spending time, reviewing my proposal. It's unfortunate that
we cannot reach an agreement. I just received an outline of your Computer
Discovery program, and that helped me understand the situation. We seem
to be at opposite ends of the spectrum.
I'm afraid I feel that programs, as described in the brochure, will do for
computing what drill-and-practice have done for mathematics: destroy the
excitment and creative nature of the subject. I wish I could be more
positive; but I can't.
I plan to persist. I agree, my approach to the subject may be idealistic
--I do expect people to be creative--, but the "realistic" alternative is
not acceptable to me. Perhaps "Idealism meets Realism" will be a remake
of "Bambi meets Godzilla". We will see.
Yours sincerely,
John R. Allen
